Description

This Rhythm & Movement card set is a STEM arts integration teaching tool. This 54-card deck includes eight Learning Activity Cards that introduce fundamental algebraic patterns. Pattern Foundations in Music, Dance, and Math is a children’s STEM program that teaches how patterns form the building blocks of all mathematics. Students deeply analyze the patterns of counting, addition, multiplication, fractions, and more. Then kids look for those same pattern structures in music and dance. Through this process, students discover math patterns everywhere in the world around them!

When you work with these cards, patterns are represented in five different ways — through color, pictures, words, rhythm and movement. So when you lead our Pattern Foundations lessons, students see math concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division represented in these five different ways. Seeing math concepts represented in a wide range of modalities supports all learners. Kids grasp mathematics more easily and more deeply when they understand how “Everything in math is a pattern!”

If you are purchasing any of the Pattern Foundations Instructional books for teachers, you will need these cards to teach the lessons.
