Spatial & Geometric Concepts
Students explore lines and shapes as they move through spacelearn more
Intermediate students explore types of lines, line orientation, line relationships, and angles. This prepares students to analyze the line and angle relationships within shapes.
Students collaborate with partners and use their imaginations to create unique compositions of bodylines.
Students integrate their understanding of geometry and dance to create the Human Sculpture Garden.
Too often students simply learn the vocabulary of geometry. Many fail to develop the spatial reasoning that allows them to slide, flip, and rotate geometric structures inside their heads.
Creative movement contributes powerfully to the development of spatial reasoning. In this foundational workshop, learn how to guide students to use stretchy dance bands, collaborate with partners, and transform lines and angles through 3-dimensional space. When students literally see and feel geometric concepts come to life, they easily identify these same structures in the world around us!
