Grouping Games in Pre-K and Kindergarten

Description

This book features eight Grouping Games for Pre-K and Kindergarten students including: Compare and Contrast; Grouping by Attribute; Counting and Labeling Quantities; Inside/Outside; In Front of/Behind; Above/Below; Beside/Between, and Conservation of Number.

Kids are up and moving during Moving Through Math!  Students start by learning how to work with others in small groups. Then children learn how actors use facial and body expression to perform for an audience. When they play the Grouping Games, Pre-K and Kindergarten students collaborate in small groups and use their drama skills to act out math concepts. Together, the performers and the audience use the Language of Math to concisely explain the mathematics.

Each lesson has three different parts, providing the gradual release from whole group work, to small group work, to individual work. Whole group work is the active learning during Grouping Games. In small groups students extended their learning using math manipulatives. Finally, students draw and label pictures to build individual student portfolios.
