And writers often intertwine the sounds of their language with the meaning of their text. Join our Teaching the Music of Language: Reading Detectives arts integration workshop for educators and discover how to help readers identify the rhythm, sound, and word patterns in children’s poetry and books.

In this workshop, learn to guide readers through a simple, stepwise process that results in a deep reading of the text. All readers joyfully engage when they become “Reading Detectives” that look for the word patterns and listen for the sound relationships that the author has crafted. And through this easy-to-lead investigation, the author’s intent is revealed.

After children discover how authors use Sound Writing patterns to create children’s books, they are ready to create their own delightful classroom books that copy these same sound and print features!
